Aspiring Teacher Programme
The Aspiring Teachers Programme is designed to support graduates who are looking to develop their experience and skills in education, prior to teacher training. Successful applicants will employed by Rotherfield for a year’s paid work experience, as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. During the year, they will be assigned a mentor and carry out a range of tasks within school, designed to prepare them for year 2 of teacher training.
If successful in your application, you will secure a permanent contract and lick off your teacher training in September. Spread over four terms you will develop the necessary skills, knowledge and training to become a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT). Once you complete your final assessment, you will be fast tracked through your NQT induction (two terms. The Aspiring Teacher Programme provides:

At Rotherfield and Newington Green we want to support our staff in professional development, and grow our own teachers. We wish to support staff who want to train as class teachers in this way, whilst maintaining high standards and securing school improvement. This programme arises from our desire to balance individual development and school improvement, and applies to staff who wish to gain QTS to teach all subjects under the national curriculum as class teachers.
