Term Dates
It is very important that parents know the school term dates. Please find this information here.
Parents and Carers must only book holidays during school holiday periods.
How does the school day work at Rotherfield?
The school day begins at 8.45am when we open the gates and invite children to join us for a soft start. Children must be in school by 8.55am. Lessons begin at 9am and finish at 3.30pm.
In the mornings, in Early Years, children meet their teacher at the door to their classroom. From Year 1 – 6, children make their own way to their classrooms where their teacher greets them. At the end of the day, teachers bring children back to the playground where they are collected by their parents/carers.
Break times are as follows:
Morning Break for Y1-6: 10.45 – 11.00
Lunchtime for EY: 12.00 – 1.00
Lunchtime for Y1-6: 12.30 – 1.30
The school office is open from 8.00am to 4.30pm during term times.
Teachers have PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment time) for roughly half a day per week. All primary teachers in England’s schools get this time. Class teachers do not teach their class for PPA time, they spend this time preparing, assessing and planning lessons. At Rotherfield, during this time, children will be taught by Specialists in Computing, Music and Spanish.
